Do’s And Don’ts Of Moving

Theres no doubt that moving is one of the most stressful events that we experience throughout our life. However, there are plenty of steps to take to insure your move goes off without a hitch.

Weigh your options:

Do you plan to have family/ friends help with your move? This work, at times. You may want to ask yourself, what’s your time limit for the move? Are you trying to complete the move within a days time? Or do you have a good time cushion? Will the pizza and beer thing work for friends? Short answer, it could.

If you want to skip that and go right for a professional moving company, be sure to do your research before hand. Nearly every state in the U.S. has regulations when it comes to moving. For example- Our company, Northwest Movers is regulated by the Oregon Department Of Transportation. ODOT regulates all household goods moving within the state of Oregon. If you are looking for a licensed moving company, regardless of what state, be sure they are listed on a state website that insures they are properly licensed to conduct moving services. Note- You do not need a license for labor only moves. This means the moving company does not provide a truck for the hired services. They can load your rented truck, or shipping container. However legally they cannot come with a truck. If they are doing so, they are doing it illegally.

Be sure to do your additional research. Check sites such as Yelp, Google, Angie’s List, and Facebook for reviews on the company you are looking to hire.FullSizeRender Truck
